What is the difference between the Genesis Spark and the Mini?
The dimensions for the Spark and the Mini are different; the Spark is smaller and is a direct upgrade for our 3Key controllers The user interface and screens are different on the Mini & Spark. The Mini can also use a current sensor, where we are not including that as an option for the Spark The Mini can use Type K, R & S thermocouples where the Spark works with Type K only The price is different - this is reflective of some additional parts on the Mini.
I have a problem with my controller - help!
We're sorry to hear you're having problems. In order for us to help you troubleshoot more, please email us with as much of the below information:
Kiln Information Kiln Type & Manufacturer Kiln voltage, amperage, and top temperature (you can find this on the specification plate near where the cord connects to the kiln): When was the last good firing? Controller Information Controller Type (e.g. Genesis 2.0, Genesis Spark)Controller Age Controller Serial Number Are you getting an error? Maintenance History When did you last change relays? When did you last change elements? Have you checked there is power to the kiln? Additional Information What are is being firing (e.g. ceramics, glass, steel, something else)? What program was run? (Did you fire to a specific cone number, preloaded glass or heat treat program, a custom program?) How was the kiln loaded? (Very empty, half full, full to the brim) How many times do you open the kiln during a firing? Can I track firing history?
Yes, the Genesis Spark maintains a firing history list showing recent firings so you can view data or start the controller with the same configuration as a previous firing.
How do I adjust for under or over firing?
Use Cone Offset to adjust the final cone temperature (up to ±99°F) or TC Offset to adjust thermocouple readings for zone-specific balancing.
How do I set the fastest possible ramp rate?
Enter 9999˚F and the controller will ramp as fast as possible.
Can you show temperatures in Celsius or Farenheit?
Yes, the Genesis Spark allows you to choose between Fahrenheit or Celsius in the Configuration menu.
Can I see information from my controller on my phone?
Yes, the Genesis Spark has Wi-Fi capabilities for software updating, log file exports and integration with the Bartlett KilnAid app.
What type of firing schedules does this controller support?
The Genesis Spark includes options for Cone Fire, Glass, PMC (Precious Metal Clay), Heat Treat, Custom programs, and Library programs.
What thermomocouple type?
How many custom program slots are there with the Spark?
The Genesis Spark has 30 custom user program slots, providing significant flexibility for creating and storing custom firing profiles.
