Here are a few helpful hints to extend your controller's life:

  • Be mindful to not let dirt and debris collect on the controller or inside the control box. Use proper ventilation and work away from the kiln with certain materials.
  • Keep your kiln and controller out of weather. It's important to keep your kiln in a controlled environment where rain or other damaging weather can reach it. Water and electronics don't mix.
  • Make sure the controller has good ventilation to it. If over heating is problem, try directing a fan at the kilns control box to help keep the controller cool during a firing.
  • Be aware of static build up. A large build up of static can damage the controller. Try touching the side of the kiln before the controller to ground yourself.
  • Ground the kiln to help protect against electrical spikes or lightning strikes, which have devastating effects on all electronics
