Understanding the ErrP Error Code During a Firing

Error codes can look alarming, but they’re often helpful indicators of what’s happening during a firing. One of the most common is ErrP, which signals a brief or intermittent power failure.

What ErrP Means

An ErrP error appears only when:

  • A firing is already in progress
  • The kiln temperature is above 140°F
  • The temperature change during the power interruption was less than 250°F

If the temperature drops more than 250°F, the controller displays PF instead, and the firing will stop.

When ErrP Appears on the RTC1000, V6CF, or Genesis

If ErrP and the current temperature flash alternately, the firing is still continuing normally. The controller resumes the program automatically—you just need to clear the message.

How to clear ErrP:

  • RTC1000 / V6CF: Press 1
  • Genesis: Press CLR

After clearing, the display returns to the standard firing screen.

When ErrP Appears on the 3-Key Controller

The 3-Key handles ErrP differently. On this controller, ErrP stops the firing due to the power issue.

To resume:

  1. Press any button
  2. Restart the firing manually
